Dear Jackie and Mozzer This is becoming an interesting subject This is where we differ in opinion (BIG TIME), I don't consider the bands that (mozzer) mentioned as Alternative. They where mainly the New Romantic/Wave scene that was created in the mid-80's and most of the bands mentioned there I never liked...it was never my cup of tea When we are talking Alternative scene in the 80's most of all the bands I mentioned are considered "Alternative' to the mainstream that was happening at that time... Now in my opinion the new Romantics/New wave scene had become the mainstream (All Disco's played the obvious at that time mainly (Soft Cell, Human League, Heaven 17, Culture Club etc) So how one can label these bands as the Alternative of the 80's is mind boggling to me.... So that's where my argument is, If it's an 80's Alternative/Goth Nite I cannot see most of those bands fitting in... And Jackie we seem to have known the same people, But I cannot figure you out, I admit I have a bad memory, maybe smoked too much grass in my younger days.....

Rifffs are back to record a New EP together see this Exclusive on www.reflexmalta.com/forumIt was great to see all of them back from the 80s. Hi you guys I didn't mean to promote any party here mind you. As I explained now you know what kind of party I prefer - the kinds that me and Mozzer have in common I was just announcing the Rifffs' comeback and as the info was on www.reflexmalta.com cause Reflex promotions had to do with it, I thought I should add it in the thread. I admit I attend the Reflex parties just for the 80s sake and to meet old friends. But in a 6 hr session I rarely manage to dance for a whole hour in all. M'hemmx x'taghmel ikollok titqanna bli hemm. unless an "ideal " is then organised. Mozzer jekk taghmel xi wiehed taf li jien u Mark dejjem nigu zgur!!!!!

Dear jackie. This is what an 80's Alt/Goth Party should sound like:- in no particular order.... Alarm, Echo & the Bunnymen, Depache Mode (Late 80's), Sisters Of Mercy, Mission, Clash, Cult, Police, The Church, All about Eve, Pretenders, Jesus and Mary Chain, Screaming Blue Messiahs, REM, Phsycadelic Furs, Pete Murphy, Julian Cope, Talking Heads, Aztec Camera,The The, Stranglers, Waterboys, The Damned, U2, Talk Talk, New Model Army, Gene loves Gezebel, The Smiths, The Fall, Joy Division, New Order, Lords of the new Church, Fields of the Nephilm, Stone Roses, The Cure, Iggy Pop, Husker Du, Love and Rockets, Bauhaus, Sioxsie and the Banshees, Throwing Muses, Triffids, Sugar Cubes, The Wedding Present, World Party, PIL, Gang of Four, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Concrete Blonde, Happy Mondays, James, Killing Joke, The La's, Primal Scream, Gary Numan etc Hope you get the drift... If you can organise an Alt-Goth party on these lines, me and half this forum will surely be there.... But please don't come and promote these 80's party's on a purely Alternative Music forum like this...and expect no backfire. I know that probably you hate my guts by now It's the 3rd one of the sort of the above that has been organised since then and nobody of this forum except Mozzer himself (he has to come because he's the dj), Zickler, Gail and Suzanne ever bothered to come. I have come to terms that the above was no serious talk. Just bla bla bla. Check out and see whether I'm bluffing or not on newromanticsmalta.bravehost.com/Moleculepage.htmlThe molecule page on my website www.newromanticsmalta.bravehost.com for the playlists/pix/video clips As you can see there's no Rick Astley, Wham or God knows who else you all mentioned that they disgust those so called altertenative loveres. On the other hand last Sat at Lo Squero I was quite dissappointed as for a time I thought I switched parties and went to the one that I should not mention here on an alternative forum. Sorry Mike I already told you that. Mind you it was fun talking to people and stuff but hey was it organised by alternativemalta or what So Jean I'm still awaiting for an alternative 80s party. Now the next one is in 3 weeks time and till now I didn't find another event except The Molecule where one could enjoy some alternative 80s in a party.

Anybody remember a local band called Brainstorm from the mid 1980's? It was based in St. Julian's, and featured two brothers, Marc Micallef vocalist and Phil bassist. I'm trying to track down either of them. Old friends from a long time ago!! Any one have any idea how to reach them? And if they're still playing? Any infomation would be much appreciated. Cheers, Guy Gould-Davies gugoda@yahoo.com What are your 10 favourite local bands of all time... I'll start (in no particular order whatsoever) Filletti & Friends Schostakovic's Nightmare Spookey Monkey Aunteater Norm Rejection Walter Micallef (Ok, he's not a band but still) Victims Of Creation Featuring Oblong Violent Version I hear that the Hinge and Mind's Eye were quite good but I don't remember them.

If I recall, it was the band fronted by DJ Gianni (Gianni Zammit). (Also of NNG fame)
I'm sure you'll find some contact detail of his somewhere around the internet. Guess you might ask him.

I think Gianni joined later. Marc is in real estate now...I'm not sure which company he works for tho.
