Hi jackie,
Sorry but i do not remember you, or even if i ever met you,
I am not attacking the 80's, I am attacking 80's shit music that we had to endure....over and over again.
And these 80's party's from what I've gathered on the reflex site smells of the same old shit...
sorry but that's my opinion.

Dear jackie. This is what an 80's Alt/Goth Party should sound like:- in no particular order.... Alarm, Echo & the Bunnymen, Depache Mode (Late 80's), Sisters Of Mercy, Mission, Clash, Cult, Police, The Church, All about Eve, Pretenders, Jesus and Mary Chain, Screaming Blue Messiahs, REM, Phsycadelic Furs, Pete Murphy, Julian Cope, Talking Heads, Aztec Camera,The The, Stranglers, Waterboys, The Damned, U2, Talk Talk, New Model Army, Gene loves Gezebel, The Smiths, The Fall, Joy Division, New Order, Lords of the new Church, Fields of the Nephilm, Stone Roses, The Cure, Iggy Pop, Husker Du, Love and Rockets, Bauhaus, Sioxsie and the Banshees, Throwing Muses, Triffids, Sugar Cubes, The Wedding Present, World Party, PIL, Gang of Four, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Concrete Blonde, Happy Mondays, James, Killing Joke, The La's, Primal Scream, Gary Numan etc Hope you get the drift... If you can organise an Alt-Goth party on these lines, me and half this forum will surely be there.... But please don't come and promote these 80's party's on a purely Alternative Music forum like this...and expect no backfire. I know that probably you hate my guts by now

Bob, you cannot have an Alt/GOTH 80's night without playing Fields of the Nephilm. "Moonchild, Follow me down, Follow me down" That's Goth to my ears

If you can organise an Alt-Goth party on these lines, me and half this forum will surely be there.... But please don't come and promote these 80's party's on a purely Alternative Music forum like this...and expect no backfire. I know that probably you hate my guts by now gaggu i fully agree with all the bands you have mentioned in your list regarding what the 80's alt/goth party should sound like, and i would see how i can be there to open such a venue!! the only thing i do disagree about is when mentioning the 80's, rick astley's and kim wilde's name have to come up. i think the only problem is that nowadays the 80's are being remembered only for the commercial side and not the REAL MUSIC OF THE 80'S. when i myself organised 80's nights, up until a few months back, i did not bother to carry any commercial nauseating stuff as already mentioned, but mostly from what gaggu has enrolled. i know jackie personally and like she mentioned, she has been mainly in every place i frequented then, plus she is also married to one of my best mates at the time. i would like to mention that most of us do remember our days during the 80's, and for us (my age) know how bloody difficult it was to satisfy our ears with good music as most of the stuff had to be either brought or purchased from abroad mainly the uk, in my case. no internet, no downloads, no chat rooms and so on, plus no first class toothpaste either .... yeah that was bad, but to me the 80's have taught me a lot musically and am proud enough to have lived day by day throughout. i spent most of my time at graffiti (where i met mike bugeja and co.), stardust at qui-si-sana, where at the time i even played sessions at stardust mainly new romantic nights/sounds on fridays, at the time were mind blowers; gary numan, soft cell, the human league, depeche mode, cabaret voltaire, blancmange, yazoo, devo, visage and more ... i also frequented polytechnic when stardust and graffiti were raided for drugs for the last time ever, and finally closed down, then obviously raffles, jj's, etc.. when i played at the alley last summer together with mike bugeja through jean, basically music that has been mentioned earlier by gaggu, although the crowd turnup was disappointing, (most of those who attended were truly 'new romantic/new wave' fans (like me), i still enjoyed every minute of it cause i played and they danced to what to me were the true pioneers of the 80's. out of this forum to my knowledge, only zickler and jackie attended plus jean obviously!! a list of new romantic performers; * A Flock Of Seagulls * ABC * Adam Ants * Alphaville * Après Demain * Associates (+ Billy Mackenzie) * B-Movie * Bolshoi * Bill Nelson * Blancmange * Blue Peter * The Blow Monkeys * China Crisis * Classix Nouveaux * Culture Club * Deine Lakaien * Depeche Mode * Double * Duran Duran * Endgames * Fashion * Furniture * Heaven 17 * H2O * The Human League (+ Phil Oakey) * Norman Iceberg * Japan (+ David Sylvian + Mick Karn) * Landscape * Leisure Process * Modern English * Gary Numan * Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark * Our Daughter's Wedding * Payolas * Pseudo Echo * Real Life * Re-Flex * Scritti Politti * Secession * Simple Minds * Soft Cell * Spandau Ballet * Split Enz * Spoons * Strange Advance * T'Pau * Talk Talk * Ultravox (+ John Foxx + Midge Ure) * Vennaskond * Visage * When in Rome * Yazoo (+ Erasure)

Thanks Mozzer, I needed a hand here!!!! Gaggu you don't remember me in those days but I do remember you drummer boy with Faith. I used to frequent Tigne also. On my web site I have this poll, (see for yourself) and some are voting yes. But as Mozzer said when something of the sort is organised there is no response. Seem that all the alternative 80s people prefer to stay at home. And Mozzer it was great in September with you and Mike at the Alley even though we were the only ones dancing there! What about the one before it at Level Zero it was great too (music was great anyway). The one at the Black Bull on the 24th Feb was also great I made Alex play my playlist which included mostly my Depeche Mode(obviously), ,Gary Numan, Ultravox, Flock of Seagulls, Psychadelic Furs , The Cure, The Cult and lots of other non commercial during a 4 hr session (which was advertised in that way) and also unbelievably played "Eighties" by Killing Joke but still the same no response except from the few same old people which I drag with me every time. So it's not that an encouragement to organise something like that without being burned!!! I'm so jealous of the Londoners who have Electric Dreams London's best New Wave/Goth Club in Camden. The DJs are 2 of my friends Valeriun (a great Numanoid) and Styx who helps me alot wherever I need help on the net. Unfortunately enough they have nights every fortnight and funnily enough they are not having any when I'm gonna be there. (Bezzula!!!!) see my profile on myspace but the picture is only how I look now!!! www.myspace.com/harmsworth

do we know you jackie ? Gaggu and I used to be with people like Mike Bugeja , Jody Fiteni....you must know these guys. I don't reckon I ever met you and Gaggu personally but I remember Jody Oh Yeh! I used to hang around similar crowd, Jody used to be with Kevin O'neill at the time, my friends were Marc Caruana(Taz-Zurrieq), Frank Cachia (tad-Duo Blank) u Edwin, Roger, Anton ix-Xigy, Marc Larski and la bella kumpanija from Sliema/Gzira(Boys and Girls). We used to be about 20 or so. Fuq il-Funtana l-Belt, Qui si sana u Tigne u r-Raffles. You are right that after Ray Bajada Raffles had the end of it with that stupid brit fella Neil(alla jahfirlu - he's dead) playing all those commercial and Jack mixes and then it was all over from 87-89 cause there was nowhere to go and Paceville was hell!! But then I was already hooked up with my husband Mark (crazy U2 fan). I was just 19 then.

It's funny that you'd call scritti politti a new romantic band - Id brand them as post punk.
(incidentally a new album is out on rogh trade next month- but the lead singer is into hip hop)
