the prayer is good - it has a melodic chorus but ye it definetely needs more listens, and i can only hope the album lives up to expectations. Bloc are one of those bands that got me into the scene, i expect they will deliver again.

I have a feeling they will - I was a bit sceptical of jacknife Lee producing but he's done a good job on this song. The band wanted beats and that's what they got (as Jacknife Lee has released three albums of electronica - they bombed saleswise but they aren't too bad0

what do you think of arctic monkeys bob?i love them they are my favorites beacaues; the lyrics are really gd, and sometimes humorous. the bassist makes really cool baselines, the tunes on guitar are simple and easy to listen to and the drummer is top notch. i especially admire them since they are so young

The Arctic Monkeys remind me of oasis - they are the kind of band you adore when you're young but when you hit a certain age they lose their spark. The debut has tons of energy and drive and that's what keeps it going. If I was between 15-21 I would adore them. Now they sound too young for me. The album itself has some good songs which make me want to dance. I bet you look good on the dancefloor, fake tales of san francisco and mardy Bum are my fave tracks.
saying that I have a feeling the may grow out of that stage cause Alex turner is a great songwriter (way better than Noel Gallagher) and has a way with a lyric and the ep 'who the fuck are the Arctic Monkeys' is great! Especially the title track which I play constantly.
we'll see what happens come album number two.

bloc party, monkeys, radiohead, modest mouse ... 2007's looking great. hey jeremy, welcome aboard ... i think that the arctics are one hell of a great band (and btw I'm approaching my 30s, so bob's theory doesn't work on me ;-) ... or perhaps I never really grew up, but, wtf, who wants to grow anyway?)

but, wtf, who wants to grow anyway?
unfortunately society forces it - at least music is my elixir of youth (and working with 11-16 year olds.)

Well if you want old bands I suggest you check out Gang of Four, XTC's first album White noise and Echo and The Bunnymen's heaven up Here- you'll see what influenced the futureheads and interpol. as for kings of Leon I hear dcreedence clearwter revival in them.
now for modern badns
On group that has choppy guitar (like the futureheads) and melodic riffs would be TV on the Radio. Start with their debut album desperate youth and blood thirsty babes. (sorry about not including KOL) TVOTR are much more than this but they are innovative and very melodious.
Editors also have an interpol/ futureheads feel to them. (but im not a big fan of the group)
