Morrissey's (ex- Smiths frontman) new album, "You Are The Quarrey". I personally think it's the best Morrissey album to date. It's kind of like a cross between Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I musically - there's real variety there. There are some slow songs, some uptempo ones and a few real tough-sounding tracks.
Singles Out;
"Irish Blood, English Heart"
and the most recent "The First Of The Gang To Die".
BTW - Look out also for a new band called, The Ordinary Boys, who have supported Morrissey throughout his recent tour and are frequently featured on MTV2.

I quite like The Ordinary boys- they remind of The jam- a very british group.
I've said this before but when I listened to you are the quarry I had this feeling that Morrissey still needs marr to help him- lyrically it is very good but musically it is a bit weak.

In the newest Rolling Stone, Brandon Flowers, vocalist from The Killers, is asked what band he would most like to see reunited. He answers, "I don't obsess about it, but I'd like to see the Smiths. Morrissey and Marr wouldn't do it for me -- I need the whole package. But that seems unlikely because of the lawsuits. They're due to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame soon. They're all still alive, so I wonder what'll happen." www.morrissey-solo.com

Thirty years after helping to found the archetypal British punk band the Sex Pistols, the guitarist Steve Jones has a new gig. Mr. Jones discussed what he's listening to and why.
Morrissey
I'm a huge Morrissey/Smiths fan. I made an attempt to write with him a couple years ago, but he never called me back. I ran into him a year later - the Pistols were doing a show and he came backstage - and the first thing he says is: "I'm sorry, Steve, I didn't call you. I was shy." Then the next year this fantastic album comes out, "You Are the Quarry" (Sanctuary). I love the way it's produced, and he's in top form. I liked the first single, "Irish Blood, English Heart," but the song that really captured me was "First of the Gang to Die." I started playing it a lot on my show, and they picked that to be the second single. So when he played at the Universal Amphitheater, he made a big fuss in between songs and gave "Jonesy's Jukebox" a big shout out for being the first to play his album and being supportive of him. It was really touching.

Important Isle of Wight AnnouncementMorrissey will regrettably not be appearing at the Isle Of Wight Festival on the 11th of June as scheduled. The pressure of preparing the new album and losing his drummer earlier this month has made it impossible to do the gig without massively compromising both the gig and the album. Apologies to all the fans, the organisers and the people of the Isle Of Wight. That's mozza!!!!!!

from morrissey-solo.com re Isle of Wight latest announcement:
28th May 2005
IOW statement from Morrissey:
I have not ever, at any time, agreed to play the Isle of Wight Festival. The announcement that I would play was made by Sanctuary—and it was their error. However, record companies will never take the blame for their own mistakes and Sanctuary’s press statement today reflects this.
In truth, I am not at all under pressure with the follow-up to You Are The Quarry—everything is in hand, and ready. However, my contract with Sanctuary ended last year and hasn’t been renewed. Hence, no promotional appearances for Live At Earls Court or the accompanying single. Surely somebody noticed?
Secondly, I have NOT parted company with Deano, and I am annoyed that Sanctuary have thrown this in without consulting either Deano or myself. But that’s just the way it goes. Call it anything other than what it is.
Thirdly, I have no connection at all with the site called Morrisseymusic.com. It is controlled by Sanctuary and I am neither consulted nor involved.
When a concert is announced in error—as with Japan last year—the inevitable news to follow is that I have “pulled out”; but I can’t pull out if I’ve never been in in the first place, and even though Janice Long kindly announced very early on that the IOW wouldn’t happen, unfortunately Sanctuary would not confirm this and this encouraged people to buy tickets.
I am very angry about the IOW, but I can’t control Sanctuary. I also realise that, regardless of the facts, people will always blame me for any unfortunate incidents—somehow believing that I control the entire spectrum of human events. In truth, since our closing dates last year in London and Dublin, my personal involvement in anything that has followed has been sub minus zero.
There will be a new signing for the new album, so please wait until you hear the news from my lips. Everything else is just gossip.
love to you from MORRISSEY.

The Man is back!!!! Morrissey names next album; He's the 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors' Morrissey next album is to be called 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors', and is set for completion in a matter of weeks. According to internet rumours, production on the record has been undertaken by Tony Visconti, who is currently recording in Rome with the former Smiths singer. Work on 'The Ringleader Of The Tormentors' is expected to be wrapped up by November 1. "Jeff Saltzman, who was originally named as producer, could not undertake the project," Morrissey fansite true-to-you.net reports. "The album is engineered by Marco Origel, who is from the San Francisco area." They add: "'Ringleader Of The Tormentors' will be released on Attack early in 2006. Morrissey is delighted with the album which he describes as 'The most beautiful - perhaps the most gentle so far." Visconti is most famous for his work with David Bowie and T-Rex. 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors' follows Morrissey's 2004 comeback album 'You Are The Quarry'. www.nme.com/news/21162
