I've just listened to the Stone Roses debut and it did nothing for me!
I was wondering about your opinions!

Funny enough I thought that the stone roses debut was rubbish when I first heard it then on the third listening WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me this is an excellent album very melodic and full of hooks. Especially made out of stone- which has the greatest fist fucking chorus ever.

I never EVER listened to it.
What a shame!!! So there! Being the name-calling....
And let me be controversial.....
Of the bands I have seen live, one of the most terrible, cringeworthy sets goes to IAN BROWN (solo though). He and his band should have been shot that day!!!!!!!! (Glasto 2001 I think it was).
However, don't account for personal tastes, 2 maltese individuals who were with me that day (the tall blond man MV and the tall dark man JH) thought he was quite good. Oh well. Legends come and go.... in the case of Ian Brown, the quicker he goes away the better... which reminds me.. Bob? Any news on him? Do you read music journals for nothing?

I'm disappointed of you guys! The Stone Roses debut is a thing of beauty......then again so is Ian Brown (PHWOAR)

'Keep what you got' has been released as a single and is on heavy rotation on MTV2. I think it's brilliant ...
Never heard the Stone Roses' debut ... was too young when it came out ... but well, I think I'll give it a try ...

I was only 11 when stone Roses was released- never let age prevent you from discovering these great albums

i am a convert. something snapped in my head after the third hearing and now it sounds like the best thing ever.
i cant believe how much an opinion can differ in so little time.
i will now spend my life preaching about how one should listen to an album at least 5 times before he gives a final verdict.

Maybe I am academic in my approach but I believe you should never ever judge a record on first hearing in fact I would say that if an album doesnt sound great the first tmie, by the third listening it will become a favourite. In my experience the albums i liked on a first listening dont really get that much attention anymore- Daisies of the galaxy, Midnite Vultures and Is This It- just to name a few.
