Just got myself the new album. Listened to it the first time and it didn't do much for me. The second time round I was like shit this is brilliant! I reckon some albums just require some getting used to, they grow on you - kind of thing.I felt a heavy presence of Suede and Interpol in certain tracks. Those very typical Suede rifs. Anyone agree? Carrion, Blackout and Wooden Horse are amazing. I just lay there, staring at the ceiling. Now in my standards that means an A+ recomendation to anyone thinking of buying the album hahaha. Plus the album sleeve is by far the best and most innovative I've seen this year. Indeed , 3 cheers for British Sea Power!

I have to agree with you there! The Decline.... is a very fresh debut. Each time I listen to the album I ALWAYS discover something new. Three Cheers to Rough Trade (who have been releases consistently good albums in the past three years)

i thought i was the only lucky person in malta to hear the decline of the british sea power there are few more spine tingling lines than "Oh little England Tonight I'll swim From my favourite island shore" (fear of drowning) ive been hearing this album since it came out and it still sounds fresh! my only complaint is the quality of the last 4 tracks. lately, a wooden horse, childhood memories and heavenly waters dont fit into the overall brilliance!

Yeah I got the album when it first came out as well. I like the album as a whole but don't forget (although there are excellent debuts-read the review section and you'll see what I mean) it is still a debut and the rough patches still have to be a bit smoothened out. Nine times out of ten when a debut sounds a bit rough, you can expect the second album to be better as the band are conscious of their mistakes.
