The album is out this monday and I've just heard three tracks.
be prepared Condon has taken a huge leap and also employed owen pallot ( the guy who did strings for the arcade fire) as part of his band and they sound gorgeously cinematic.
this is going to be one hell of a release!

i've been listening to the album for the past 3 weeks... i'm not that impressed considering their first effort was excellent. This is a continuation more than anything.
What i like is the added influence of arab music. As in "in the mausoluem".

I still think the first half of this album is as good or better than "Gulag Orkestar" .... then I tend to agree with Paul .... it's a sort of continuation.
But I really love tracks like "A Sunday Smile" and "Nantes" .... the tune of the latter sounding like the soundtrack from the famous computer games series "Monkey Island" ;D

i received the album yesterday (thank you rough trade album club!) and I've been playing it non stop. Personally I think it's better than Gulag Orkestar and there's a sort of confidence in music that Condon only hinted at in the debut. Plus Owen Pallet's ( Final Fantasy) string arrangements are divine.
In the Mausoleum is my fave track and kudos to that excellent bonus one.
