oh man I adore the animal collective and every release, be it a live album or ep is a must have. so in september they are rleleasing their new album Strawberry Jam on uber label Domino and ( no pun intended) here's the first taster www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/forkcast/44017-animal-collective-fireworks-videofireworks I had a feeling that the AC, like Deerhoof, couldnt stay avant garde forever so im not too surprised that this song is more accessible than their early albums. However it is undeniably animal collective-esque and Strawberry Jam may be their breakthrough album ( already they are playing to some sold out shows in the U.K. so their time is coming)

well the album leaked and I listened to it a few times.
Needless to say that this is a masterpiece and it will rank as the group's most accessible work to date. In essence of the previous album feels, which does mean that Animal Collective are moving into more ear friendly territory but havent lost their edge, which makes them Animal Collective.

ok here's the first official video for Peacebone it's oddly beautiful disturbing and will stick in your heads for years. like the group's music really. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxvGHQHiY70the 'kiss' at the 3 :00 mark is particularly haunting.

I love it - i've been playing it on a loop. Peacebone and fireworks are their best songs to date I suppose it will be a breakthrough album. Quite easy listening by their standards. Seeing them in November... just hoping they live up to my expectations...

so i know three people who saw them live and they said it was a transcendental experience.
Already there's a lot of sold out shows. In a way the band's career is similar to deerhoof's - starting out avant garde and all and slowly moving to a more accesible sound while retaining the weirdness they started off with.
from the moment they released sung tongs I knew it was the start of phase two.
