What this petition is for:
For the prices of new mainstream albums to be cut by at least 25%
For the music industry to understand that most people do not wish to download illegally, but will continue to do so unless record companies and retailers stop their greed and charge decent prices
For record companies to decrease the prices of albums released over ten years ago even more so
For the average price of new legal music downloads to also be cut by at least 25%
For the closure of tab and lyric sites to cease.
Most people want to pay for music, but they want to pay fair prices and will not stand for the current greed in the industry.
Some people say such cuts would drive the record companies out of business- this is not true. Music costs nothing to make- it is not a physical product like a chair or a washing machine it is only a product of our creativity, which costs nothing. The physical products, the CD's cost practically nothing- we can all buy blank CD's for a little as 10p.
When we buy music we want to support the artists- but at present it is not the artist's we are supporting- it is the greedy executives.
We want record companies to stop thinking of music as a product- that is something it will never be. By adding us as your MySpace friend or accepting our request you are saying you agree with this petition. You are saying that you love music, and that you want to save it.
