Then the other day I was at a client (from all places) and he had mtv on and this brilliant song was on, I thought who the hell are these guys ? yep you have it...bloc party also sent for The Dears...since I never got it from yours truly

if you dont like it. It will confirm that you're an old fart re dears and those- give me time- I was going to buy a cd writer. But things didnt work out as they were supposed to be (NEVER WORK IN A PRIVATE BUSINESS!) and my plan got scrapped. If you're patient everything will work out. And at the mo I dont want to lend cds cause two of them are being held captive.

my 2c about bloc party: i do not think they are an amazing band (yet) or that this is an amazing album. i do believe that its a good debut and that they have the potential not only to remain relevant but also to someday come up with something really strong. i like kele, he's very charismatic, guitarist is very creative, solid rhythm section. compared to say radiohead's debut this one shines. and it seems they can really pull it off live. so - even though we probably would not have heard of them without the hype, i think they're overhyped. if that hype is just a way forward, cool. one hopes that on the other hand there will not be a backlash. time will tell

as a debut its quite strong and it does make a statement about their abilities as group. at this stage I think its ok. But it's true that they are becoming over hyped. Plus the NME review of their debut is a bit arselicky. Saying that the pitchfork one is more down to earth and accurate.
