Isma guys, I had an idea! *lights bulb* Since the Fuck Politics Let's Dance party was a big success, partly thanks to the DJ's playing totally unexpected mash-ups which nonetheless proved to be crowd-pleasers, why not in the future try and locally set up mash-up themed parties?! Since Soulwax unleashed their 2 Many DJ's compilation series, thus inspiring countless DJ's afterwards to try their hands at bastardizing pop tunes, such nights abroad proved successful with the hipster and indie crowds! Like this one - Ejja, what do you think?!

It's a good idea!- within my own collection there are some i'd love to try. As for the history of the mash up The 2manydjs album is a crucial one by the song that raised eyebrows at the versitality of the genre is the Sugababes freak like me which mashed adina howard's freak like me with tubeway army's are friends electric Sugababes - www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7chqPuRjOwAdina Howard - www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmW3lh7NpzgTubeway army - www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0WNbm1jz6A (not official video) all of this was put together by dj hell and it caused waves back in 2001. Though I'd like to trace it's history back to the beastie boys Paul's Boutique, De La Soul's Three Feet High and rising and Dj Shadow's Entroducing. anyway here are some essential mash ups or known as bootlegs or bastard pop Here are my top 5 mash up albums The Avalanches - Since I left you 2manydjs - as heard on radio soulwax part two Optimo - how to kill the dj part 2 Spank rock - Fabriclive 33 Maximize - Sher Khan another worthy one is daft punk's Alive 07 - which is daft punk's whole back catalogue mashed together and one forthcoming mash up album which I think will create waves will be Dj Yoda's Fabric Mix ( which should be released in April but is currently going through sample clearing)

Would be strongly in favour of a mash-up event. I'm a big fan and been following the scene for quite a while now. Sometimes these mash-ups go down really well even with the normally conservative Maltese crowds (personally I used to always include a couple of mashes in a set) ... although I can remember the strange looks I got when I played "Love Will Tear Us Apart" mashed with a Missy E song at Lo Squero once ;D
