pawl, in all fairness to wammy i don't think you've understood him correctly. he is quite right in saying that this was never meant to be a generic site for ALL local bands. obviously in promoting alternative music we do want to promote the local bands and scene. maybe this thread was rather premature as in we to date still don't have our house in order (= content management system). nevertheless - there have been valid suggestions which paul and me should take into consideration when getting this blessed CMS designed (wammy we have a few quotes which you could give us your opinion about). last but not least - on behalf of all of us- thanks Pawl for all your hard work and dedication.

who's touching you Gail?! it's still early morning. I guess it's good to listen to what the users look out for before we do the presentations we are preparing lu. As with Wammy's point, i might have given less importance to the statement he made about the genre of bands but maybe he might consider suggesting such bands - not sure which ones he's referring to... my post wasnt asking for thanks and appreciation (especially from my other half in the madness); preferably participation and initiative… btw (i almost forgot) www.eventsmalta.com is already doing a great deal in "covering" generic local events in music and the arts.

Pawlu,
AM is definitely not a failure and I never intended my statement to imply that in anyway. Having said that, I do not feel that bands like Scream Daisy and Corkskrew could find a happy home in the present AM, same with bands and artists like Ira, Bitterside, Winter Moods, then the underground bands and the newer ones like Pitch99, Chasing Pandora. It is plainly obvious that these are not considered Alt and rightly so. They are not Alt as in non mainstream ala Lumiere, Elite Cookie Mode, Beanies, Hunter's Palace for example. This is what I meant really and I believe it makes sense that AM wanted to focus on a subset of the local effort.
Unfortunately events malta doen not do gig reviews, track band news etc with an editorial purpose. It may have set out to do that but I do not belive it has managed that.

it has nothing to do with philantropy G. it only has to do with being young and active rather than impassive. Dwn affarijiet importanti. B'daqsxejn ghajnuna dejjem hemm cans li jispunta xi hadd tajjeb u karizmatiku daqsi hux hehehe u ejja...issa apparti n-nejk kollu. dan il-hafna zbubati fuq radio stations u deejaying u x'naf jien...fl-ahhar mill-ahhar ma huma xejn hlief replacement fjakk ghas-sensazzjoni stupenda li tkun f'band tipprova tikkrejha xi haga (fjakka kemm hi fjakka) M'ghandi l-ebda problema b'deehjaying u xandir. Anzi!!! sa minn alla jkunu huma kultant...pero sabih kieku jfigg deejay li xi darba jammetti li jippreferi kieku ghandu l-istamina u l-pacenzja li jkun f'band flok wara d-deck. G......l-imgarr ma nuzwhiex il-kelma wank. ma tghoddx mal-'home jargon'. Pero nahseb ghandek ragun. Filfatt jien WANKER KBIR mwahahahahaha brikkun ... i have done both, i.e. played in a band and radio stations. in my opinion, the two do not even dare to be compared to one another!! 1. playing in a band is a good vibe for being able to create stuff 'of your own' (to me you sound like playing/or have to do with some band) and not like many maltese bands playing a litany of covers instead of draining their grey matter for new material ... 2. playing music on a 'good' radio station is another and totally different feel from the former ... no good/proper local station is avail, alas none of which can dedicate some time dedicated to proper indie/alt local and foreign bands. been on radios myself where even good maltese bands (at the time) let alone alt/indie music were considered blasphemy!! of course, nowadays we make use of mp3 players, but i would still go for a radio station for the fact that with such a medium various info re bands, new material and listening to the music itself, leave more satisfying taste on thy buds ... so definately yes for an alt/indie radio station ....
