Hello guys and girls. I need your help here. Thinking about some improvements for AM and being a "living" community, i'd rather listen to all of you about it before i indulge myself in dreaming and wandering... So please, go ahead and list the pluses and the minuses of www.alternativemalta.com and any "if i had to's..." here you can also send me a personal message or an email at pawlu@alternativemalta.com thanks pawlu

Yeah there are quite some costs involved to buy the hardware, but I’m sure that then everyone will willingly volunteer to help For the rest, what can I say ... all the guys involved with AM have done a Great job. ;D

a radio station is such a waste of precious time.
if you want to do something useful either set up a band or set up a system whereby local bands can play professionally organised gigs. I know alt malta is slowly taking care of this too but i still think help is much welcome.
Regarding promotion of alt music i think the deejaying at the various organised nights is already more than enough.
Jekk kultant tieqfu ggerruh fuq il-bands barranin u tghinu lill ftit li ghandhom potenzjal li qieghdin fuq xtutkhom nahseb tiswew hafna izjed ta gid.

Logistically setting up a radio is not a trivial thing and a local station's scope would be pretty limited in it's reach.
One way of doing it is to use the existing local community stations and do it the American way, syndication. Somebody would need to prepare a program and distribute it to local community stations for broadcast in their locality. This could give people a foot hold, allow them to gain experience and prepare the grassroots for something better in the future.
However I also agree with Brikkun, we need more bands so that the scene does not become stale.
We also need a site to report and document the local band scene. This is probably not AM's mission but there is a niche for it. I have personally wanted to do this myself for a good number of years but have been pretty tied up with work, bands and all.
I have web hosting and quite allot of experience in web application development, if anybody is interested in going for something like this I would gladly help out.

i don't see why we should see ourselves as some philanthropists for local music.. local or foreign, if i like it ill support it.. (or wank over it in brikkun's home language)
